How is the answer worked out?

From the hourly forecast for the area and a drying model per rock type: how much rain fell, how long ago, and how fast that rock dries in that temperature, humidity and wind. Sandstone takes longest, limestone and granite much less. It's a forecast, so touch the rock before you climb, and leave wet sandstone alone: it breaks.

YES, SEND, MAYBE and NO

YES means most of the area should be dry. SEND means dry and cold with good friction. MAYBE means only the fast-drying sectors should be dry. NO means wet. Friction goes from greasy to prime, from how far the air is from its dew point and how warm it is.

The answer was wrong

Tell us the area, the day and what you found at the rock, at hello@bloksessions.com. Real reports are how the drying model gets better.

Notifications don't arrive

Check that notifications for Can I Climb Today are on in your iPhone's Settings. "Tell me when it's dry" sends one notification the evening before an area turns dry after rain, so on a dry spell there's nothing to send. "Dry this weekend, near you" only sends on Friday mornings when something within your drive looks dry.

An area is missing

Write to hello@bloksessions.com with the area and roughly where it is, and we'll look at adding it.
